“Dear brother/sister,”
“Protect us from the forbidden. The most important of these prohibitions are the actions carried out with the eyes and the tongue, and the illicit gains that are mixed in the foods we eat.”
“Be aware both mentally and physically.”
“Please preserve the words of our Great Lord that you have memorized.”
• Before starting to recite from memory, make sure you are in the proper state. Turn to the Quran and say: “In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful”, and recite with sincerity.
• If you cannot concentrate on memorizing, stand up and pray two rakats and read. You will know that there is a feeling of calmness in your heart, tranquility in your mind, and preparation in your memory.
• Remember to always use your memory while your mind is present. Start memorizing after emptying your mind of unnecessary things. You can’t put something in a full jar without emptying it first.
• Memorize with a pure and clear mind. If you work at night and make preparations, you will realize that they are stored in your memory while you sleep.
“• Remember that when you sit down to read the Quran, the devil will do everything possible to distract you and remind you of all your problems, preventing you from focusing on the Quran. It’s a game, be firm and say “Euzu-Besmele”. When the devil sees your determination, he will feel desperate. And when you start reciting “Euzu-Besmele”, the devil will flee looking for a place to hide…”
“• Please memorize as much of the Holy Quran or places from the Quran as possible.”
• Because you are taking a photo of the sections you have memorized with your eyes. It will be easier to remember when you have saved it in your memory.
• Make this place your memorization place. In a simple place, there will be nothing to distract your eyes and mind, and you can concentrate more on your memorization. Also, if possible, always do your memorization in the same place. Because seeing new things distracts your attention.
• Always read while you make memory. When studying out loud, you can also get help from your ears and memorize faster.
• Please pay attention to making sure your reading of the letters and their pronunciation is correct. Because when you learn them wrong, it is very difficult to correct. That’s why, work with your teacher. If you don’t have the opportunity to work with a teacher or can’t practice much, try to correct the pronunciation and places of articulation of the letters by listening to the Quran on tapes or CDs from competent teachers.
• Before starting to memorize a page or surah, read aloud at least ten times paying attention to pronunciation and correct recitation. If you have the opportunity to listen, listen three or four times.
“• Read the translation of the section you are going to memorize. This way, you will know what the sections you have memorized are talking about. You will understand the verses of our Lord, be moved and memorize them more easily.”
• When reciting the verses, try to improve your voice if possible. In other words, intone but not too slowly, read at a normal pace. Memorizing with an exaggerated recitation (very slow and melodic) can be difficult.
• After memorizing the first verse, repeat it at least three times from memory.
“Please memorize the second verse and repeat it three times. Then repeat both verses three more times.”
• Then we memorize the following verse and repeat it three times from memory. Afterwards, we repeat these three memorized verses three times. Continue applying this method until you finish the page or surah.
“• Repeat the page or section at least ten times from memory to properly reinforce it.”
• Do not forget to apply this fixation. Remember the saying “Forged in fire”.
• ¡Felicitaciones! Ahora lo has memorizado …
• With a number of trained students reaching four thousand, the late Quran Master Hasbekli Mü’min Hocaefendi used to conclude his advice to his students with this beautiful phrase:
